The 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was an international professional baseball tournament, and the fifth iteration of the World Baseball Classic. It began on March 8 and ran until March 21. Countries from all over the world participated, all wanting to be crowned victors. It all came down to two-time champion, Japan, and one time champion The United States in the finals.
Mike Trout. Shohei Ohtani. Two of the greatest baseball players ever. Teammates on the Los Angeles Angels, but rivals in the championship game of arguably the greatest international baseball competition ever. Japan was ahead 3-2 in the ninth inning of the World Baseball Classic. Perhaps the most iconic and classic ending ever to a game this important.
Millions of Japanese baseball fans around the world undoubtedly rejoiced instantly when Ohtani struck out Trout on a full 3-2 count to give Japan the win. Stars from around the sports world immediately reacted with satisfaction at the performance they had just watched.
Shohei Ohtani showed his thoughts on the WBC. "This is the best moment in my life," Ohtani, 28, told reporters. Mostly positive feedback from the players showed their support for the tournament.
