Boy's basketball falls short

It was a wild ride for the Greenfield boy’s basketball team, as they closed out their season with a devastating loss against Davidson Day on the 24th of February.

The boys racked up 31 wins and took 7 losses with Matt Kirby, a reclassed senior, as the leading scorer for the season averaging 21 points per game and 5 assists per game. Some other notable feats are Nik Edwards and Tyler Barnes’s defensive capabilities all season long, which helped the team make some amazing comebacks this year.

I asked Nik what his favorite moments were as a team this year and he told me that, “The best part of our season was the traveling. We went to the outer banks and Virginia and it was a great time.” I also asked him what his best comeback story was of the season and he told me about the team’s game against Burlington. “They were up by almost double digits with 2 minutes left in the game. We pulled through and won by 6.”

No matter if the team lost in the state championship or not, the team performed exceptionally against all odds and it’s sad to see that most of the team is leaving after this year. Hopefully we can see some new talent arise for the future.
