If you are a shopper, you may have heard about Macy’s stores getting shut down. Across the country, over 150 stores named Macy’s will close. This is almost a third of Macy’s in the country. This will more than likely be done before 2026. Mrs. Peele who is a science teacher at Greenfield states “I can't believe that they are closing, I really did not expect that”.
Macys is a fashion and clothing company that was founded October 28, 1858, by Rowland Hussy Macy. Macy’s states that they are closing the low-selling stores and will instead invest more in their better and bestselling stores. They also state they will open more stores in locations that tend to have more shoppers. Macys has not yet stated which stores will be closing but stated that they will close 50 by the end of the year. Macys states that by 2026 they will have 350 stores opened which is half as many as before the pandemic. The reason so many stores have closed is because more than 75% of the Macy’s stores were not selling enough items.
