What students want to learn at school but do not

by Gabby Beddingfield

There are only so many classes available to students in high school. Yet, students want to learn so many different things! So, what do students want to learn in school that they don’t?

Many students said that they think there should be classes that teach life skills, such as human interaction, finances, and even common sense. Other things students said that they think there should be classes for in school include shop class, cooking class, self-defense, and game tracking. In an interview, when asked what classes she thinks we should add to our school, Avery Williams (freshman) said, “Astronomy, more language classes, and like a sports class where we learn about sports.”

Extracurricular activities students think should be offered include a large variety of sports teams and clubs. They’ve said clogging, four square, softball, boys volleyball, lacrosse, hockey and field hockey, futsal, speed walking, curling, eventing on horses, hunting, fishing, racing, survival, and foreign language clubs. In an interview, when asked what extracurricular activities we should have that we don’t, Wood Vick (freshman) said, “I do feel like football would probably be a good one to add.”

Students do have some ideas on classes, sports teams, and clubs we should add to Greenfield School.
