What's up with ChatGPT?

by Jack Adair

ChatGPT is the latest new AI model that allows you to have human like conversations and much more with the chatbot. ChatGPT is currently free and open to the public because it is in a research phase at this point in time. However, a paid subscription model called ChatGPT Plus launched in February.

"ChatGPT is scary good. We are not far from dangerously strong AI," said Elon Musk, who, before departing, was one of OpenAI's founders. OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, said on Twitter that ChatGPT attracted over a million users in the first five days of its launch. Some teachers at Greenfield say that ChatGPT has pros and cons and can be used for ideas but not to steal work from in order to gain an unfair advantage.

ChatGPT isn't perfect because a server is used to run the website; when too many users use the server, it overloads and cannot handle your request. This does not imply that you will never have access to it. Simply put, it suggests that you try viewing the website later, when fewer individuals are attempting to reach the server.

Ultimately, I asked ChatGPT to “write a 150-word essay explaining how CHATGPT works” and it generated this:

ChatGPT is a large language model that uses a deep neural network architecture called the "Generative Pre-trained Transformer" (GPT) to generate human-like text based on input from a user. The model is pre-trained on vast amounts of text data, allowing it to understand natural language patterns and generate contextually appropriate responses.

When a user inputs a message, ChatGPT uses its transformer architecture to process the text and generate a prediction of the most likely next word or phrase in the conversation. It then generates a response based on this prediction and the previous conversation context.

As the conversation progresses, ChatGPT continues to refine its predictions and generate more complex and nuanced responses. The model is also designed to learn from each interaction, allowing it to improve its accuracy over time and adapt to the specific conversation style and preferences of each user.

Overall, ChatGPT works by leveraging the power of deep learning and natural language processing to generate human-like responses to text-based communication. Its ability to learn and adapt to different conversational styles has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with technology and communicate with each other.
