One of the most important aspects of professional basketball is the draft picks that teams can choose every year before the season begins. The first overall pick is one of the most important aspects of the draft, as teams who get the first pick can choose anyone they want from the selection. The NBA has seen some good and bad first picks, but Wembanyama might be the best yet.

A little backstory, Victor Wembanyama (Wemby) is a 7’4” power forward/center from France for the San Antonio Spurs. Before his time in the league, he showed he was a good shooter, an amazing defender, and the best asset any professional team could ask for.

Recently in the NBA league, Wemby has been showing his professional level skill set on the court for San Antonio with a 38-point game on the Phoenix Suns. He also had ten rebounds, two blocks, and two assists in only 35 minutes. CJ Robl said, “It was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen from a rookie”. Quintin Blake and Kobe Edwards both said that “he is nowhere near the best first-overall pick.” Fans of the NBA and Spurs fans are ready to see just how high the skill ceiling can go with this magnificent player.
