The crazy sensation of Wordle has struck the world with its simple five-letter guessing game.
Wordle is a game owned by the New York Times where you take six guesses at a five letter word. If the letter is gray, it’s not in the word. If it’s yellow, it’s in the word but in the wrong spot. If the letter is green, it is in the word and in the right spot. The game is so simple, but why did it blow up in the first place?
Wordle started to pick up traction around the end of December 2021 when the app was getting posted on TikTok nonstop. The views on these videos were insanely high for no apparent reason. Regardless, the satisfaction of those five letters turning green is so sweet you can’t miss it.
Wordle isn’t the only variant of this game out there, since with all good games come the copies. Many different versions of Wordle exist but the most popular copy is Worldle. Worldle is a very similar game to Wordle with a twist. Instead of trying to find a word in six tries, you look at an image of a country and try to guess its name. If you get the name wrong, it tells you how close you are through a percentage and gives you 5 more guesses. Simple, but significantly harder than the original.
The two games have taken the world into a grasp and they hold it tight, because it will be a long time before any game will topple the kings.
