Should we be allowed to chew gum?

by Trak Godwin

Most schools around the United States have banned gum from kids. Gum has been a bad going habit kids do during school.

Gum is not allowed at Greenfield as well. Mr. Manna, the assistant head of school at Greenfield, said that gum is banned here because "it could be distracting if kids are chewing loud, blowing bubbles, and be messy.”

Also, he said “that there is no clear gum policy here at Greenfield school, but you may receive demerit.” Gum is also banned because Mr. Manna says “sometimes people will put it under the desk or table. Then this leads to more problems and makes the school either clean the desk or buy more desks.”

Gum can be distracting and messy if people make it. This is one of the most popular reasons we are not allowed to have gum in school. But will schools ever make a change in the future and can gum help us concentrate and learn better?
