This was round 2 of this rivalry between Greenfield and Wayne Country Day. The game took place at Wayne Country Day in Our last matchup. Greenfield ended up winning the rivalry game 86 - 77.
Unfortunately, for round two, Greenfield was down three players: Hampton Evans due to a concussion injury, and Kobe Edwards and Drew Lucas due to school situations. So Greenfield was short on players and had to work with what they had, but they were still determined not to lose.
The environment was crazy; there was so much energy between the teams, and the two student sections were going at it. The game was close the whole time, just like last game, but Greenfield hung on as they went into Halftime, losing by only single digits. In the locker room, Coach Salter said, “I like the way you guys are playing, but let's just continue to be us.”
Greenfield continued to battle, but it was not looking too good, and they went into the 4th quarter, losing by double digits. Coach Salter said, “ Give me all you have for these last 8 minutes,” and everyone that stepped on the floor fought. They cut the score down by two points, where we were only losing by 2, and we had a shot to take the lead, but it just did not fall for us. We ended up losing 84-77. The leading scorers were Kirby with 28 points and Edwards with 20 points.
