Op-ed: should we still have senior pranks?

Senior pranks have been debated for many years regarding if they should still be around. Senior pranks can be funny and enjoyable to people in most cases, but some people go overboard depending on the prank. An example is a school in Burlington, NC, where students littered with glitter, tissues, trash cans knocked over. The principal said, “There was cement all over the bathroom toilets in the boy's bathroom.” This cost over $4000 dollars to repair. This is an example of a prank taken too far and this is the reason senior pranks have a bad reputation. Senior pranks should not be banned but they should be reviewed by someone from the school to accept it. This would solve people going overboard and would make senior pranks fun again.

A poll was sent out asking if we should still have senior pranks. This was sent to 10 students and a faculty member about last year's senior prank and 100% of voters said yes. I interviewed senior Sammy Lanier, a senior at Greenfield School, and he stated, “the issue isn't the senior pranks as a whole it's the people doing them without confirmation from the school.” Sammy thinks they can stay around and be fun without being banned.
