Op-ed: Is Joe Burrow Washed?

Since the start of the 2023 NFL season, Joe Burrow has been the most inconsistent starting quarterback in the league. He has had some good games and some really bad games, but no one knows why.

Since his beginnings in 2020, he has been considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league, with him winning the Heisman trophy in 2019 and carrying the Bengals to the Super Bowl that they eventually lost. As of lately, he has gotten worse in performance and overall athleticism. Not only does this affect the sports betting scene, but it also affects fantasy teams who chose Joe Burrow to be on their team.

A common answer to his sporadic underperformance is the calf injury he endured during the training camp for the Bengals team. He could have a coordination issue with his offense not being good enough to catch his passes. Another reason could be that he has another underlying injury or reason that has not been revealed to the public.

Whatever the reason is, he needs to lock in and start playing like an NFL quarterback and stop flipping a coin to see whether he does good or bad in a game. Hopefully, he will heal from his injury and continue to play like the Burrow we knew last year.
