A Hot dog is not definitely sandwich. Many people (such as dancer Rita Moreno) believe it is. This subject reminds me of something that happened a few years ago in Vietnam. After school, I tried to get something to eat for dinner. I went to a roadside snack bar to order a sandwich; however, the seller gave me a hot dog. I was so confused, but I forgave it and got home. I was searching so much on the Internet prior to coming up with an answer, and I have decided that it is not.
According to Cambridge dictionary, a sandwich is “two pieces of bread with food such as cheese, salad, or meat between them, eaten as a light meal,” or “a cake consisting of two thin, round layers with a filling such as cream between them.”
On the other hand, it shows that "Hog Dog" has differences as its definition. A Hog Dog is “a cooked sausage eaten in a long soft piece of bread, often with ketchup (= tomato sauce) or mustard.” Moreover, online sources state that “A Hot Dog is a food consisting of a grilled or steamed sausage served in the slit of a partially sliced bun.”
A poll of 9 students at Greenfield School indicate that 6 people say “a hot dog is a sandwich” while 3 people say no. Wood says: “Some hotdogs use two pieces of bread between the actual meat of the hot dog and anything else put in between it, just like a normal sandwich.” Larken says: “ It has both sides of it,” and Max says: “ There is a sausage in the middle.” However, there are some arguments against this. Jasmine’s idea is: “It just isn’t.” Ollie says: “It is its own classification of food.”
In conclusion, I strongly confirm that Hot Dog is not a Sandwich because it is not two pieces of bread. It is the bread cut in the middle, but people can change it by cut the bread into two slices to be a sandwich. Therefore, it just depends on how people view or how they make it.
