The new Upper School building, which has been in the planning stage for a long time, is now in the building process and on track to completion in March 2024. Upper Schoolers will start the 2024-2025 school year in the building.

According to Melodie Powell, Director of Advancement, “This has been in the plan for years, and we thought we needed an Upper School first because y’all are going to grow into it.”

No new buildings had been built since the cafeteria in 2012, so the board felt it was finally time to act on this plan. Deb Rogers, Head of School, says, “I think it’s going to give our Upper School an exciting new place to learn and to socialize.”

Several exciting additions to the building include bathrooms and two common spaces. Most of the Upper School classes will be in the new building.

Four of the six students polled are looking forward to the new building. They are excited for newer classrooms and an updated space to spend time in. The administration hopes the building will allow smaller class sizes and help with teacher recruitment for 2024 and beyond.
