Our fourth New Teacher Spotlight focuses on Mr. Kenneth Stancil, who teaches Middle and Upper School Math.
Mr. Stancil grew up in Kentucky and has been teaching for seven and half years. The subjects he has taught are science (which is his favorite subject to teach) for 7th and 8th grade at Southern Nash Middle School, Cedar Creek Middle School, Wilson Prep, and math at Greenfield School.
Mr. Stancil said that the reason he decided to come to teach at Greenfield School was because of "the great atmosphere.” In addition, he likes the small-school feel, which gives him “a better opportunity to get to know the students and faculty way better than before.”
Some fun facts about Mr. Stancil: if he could live in his dream place, it would be in the Appalachian Mountains, since he grew up near them in Kentucky. He has five children and five grandchildren. His favorite color is red, and he had said that his favorite animal is an eagle because “they can observe everything that is below them.”
He had also said that “working with kids are good as long has you remember that you are working with kids.” The reason he chose to become a teacher is because it is something he “has always enjoyed, and working with kids is just fascinating.” He now teaches upper and lower school math classes and has been a wonderful addition to the Greenfield community.
