New leaders emerge on baseball team

by Zach Lozevski

After two excellent seniors graduated last year in baseball, Greenfield Baseball has seen a new rise of leaders such as Alex Johnson and Gavin Price. I interviewed Coach Johnson and players Gavin Price and Alex Johnson about the baseball team and new leadership roles.

When I interviewed Coach Johnson, he said the leaders are the returning players from last year and seniors. The spots he told me we could most improve on as a baseball team were hitting and cutting down on strike-outs. Some of our strengths as a baseball team are our versatility with players being able to play multiple positions. The way he copes with a tough game with the team is by discussing where we could improve, stating that all you can control in a game is the amount of work you put in.

During my time with Gavin and Alex, I asked them questions regarding their spirit about baseball. Their inspiration comes from all the support from their teammates on and off the field and the challenges they face to build themselves. Alex believes a good leader leads by example and one who has a positive mindset for their team. Gavin believes a good leader talks to their team and has each other's back even on a bad day.
