J.Cole is one of the most influential artists in the rap game, and he continues to put out amazing music in every album he releases. His most recent album, The Off-Season, really shows how advanced his lyricism really has become. But let’s not focus on what he is now, let’s focus on what he was.
J.Cole, or Jermaine Lamarr Cole, was born on January 28th, 1985 in Frankfurt, Germany, and moved to the states to live in North Carolina. He has released eight albums along with two mixtapes. His first albums didn’t do too well with the exception of the hit single, "Work Out."
His first album to really hit it off was Forest Hills Drive, which was released in 2014. Some of the songs on this album have hundreds of millions of plays on Spotify, Soundcloud, and Apple Music; one song, "No Role Modelz," even has one billion plays.
His newer albums have been produced better when compared to the previous albums, and his newer tracks feature more well-known artists such as 21 Savage, Lil Baby, Bas, and 6LACK. Though The Off-Season lacks the amount of plays that Forest Hills Drive has amassed, it still has years to grow and will most likely surpass Forest Hills Drive considering how fast it has grown in only a couple months.
The world can only expect to receive greatness from J.Cole in the future.
