Hurricanes winger suffers season-ending injury

by Avery Williams

Carolina Hurricane’s winger Andrei Svechnikov will be out for the rest of the regular season and postseason with a knee injury. On March 13th, it was announced that Svechnikov would be out with a knee injury. On the 14th Hurricanes’ media released information on Andrei receiving surgery on March 16th on his ACL and will be unable to play the rest of the season and into the playoffs. Svech was injured on March 1st during the 2nd period of the game. He briefly went to the locker room after leaving in pain and came back to finish the game in the 3rd. It was released a week later that he had sustained a knee injury and would be out indefinitely.

“I hate it for him more than anything. He’s worked so hard to get to this fun point of the year. "Now he will not be able to be a part of the rest of the season,” Head Coach Rod Brind ’Amour tells the media. Svechnikov ranks tied in second for points with the Hurricanes (55) and is third on the team in goals (23). He is a consistent 2nd liner who is constantly hard-working player who battles every night to get better.
