Importance of a subject is usually classified by how many people participate in using or doing the subject. Some may say that that’s wrong because eating is important because it keeps us alive. While this is true, it’s not trendy to eat, but it is more or less trendy to eat certain foods. The logic behind eating food isn’t what I’m looking at: I’m looking for why people eat certain foods and how that makes them different from others. For example, name one person that goes out and thinks, “I could really go for some liver right now."
Eating is important, but it seems like the culture of eating is even more important. Some people eat to get by and some people eat to survive and enjoy the food. Different types of foods that are designed to people’s palates are unique. No person likes eating strictly one type of food. Sure, there are vegetarians and vegans, and people who do keto, but they will never eat a single type of food forever. After a while of eating the same thing, your taste buds get sick of it and want something new. That is exactly how music evolves.
If anyone took a guess at how many types of music there are, they would be wrong. Music spans the entire world. Whether you’re singing, tapping, playing, or humming, it’s there. Popular genres come and go as the so-called “top dog” of the industry in a time period. Humans are naturally going to want something new and fresh at some point and it’s time we accepted that as a whole.
There’s a reason for why all the songs on the rock radio station are from the 80s and why all the hip-hop songs on the radio are from the 90s. These types aren’t in style anymore, and people listening to these genres make them seem out of touch or old. It’s rare to catch someone listening to classical music or throat singing, and even though it isn’t wrong to listen to this kind of music, someone will always have something to say about it.
It’s wrong to judge someone for their interests and that the people of this world need to stop telling others what to listen to just because it’s not the newest thing. The animosity that comes along with it is also a factor. Personally, I’ve seen friendships not work out just because the two had different music tastes, so it really shows how easy people can make relationship decisions purely based on music.
Love it or hate it, music isn’t going away. The next big thing in the music industry could happen any second now, and someday, the genre that’s popular right now will fade into the abyss.
