On August 14th, 2022, 78-year-old Jessica Lawrence rammed her car into a Hardee’s drive-through on Forest Hills Drive. As a result, two brothers who were locals of Wilson were struck and killed in the accident.

“It was very frightening and upsetting, and I figured it might be someone who is a long-time member of our society, who was just inside eating breakfast,” says Mrs. Tara Brown.

The Autobell camera captures the car going across the street quickly and striking the Hardee’s. Officials are still trying to figure out how and why the crash occurred. As of now, it is still unclear. In one of the phone calls, the dispatcher asks the lady, “so it's in the building?” to which she replies, “Oh yes, he is in the building.”

Hardee’s is working on trying to build back the damaged part of the store. Also, the building is boarded up now and is closed. Christopher (the youngest brother) was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after Clay died at ECU medical health center in Greensville. Thoughts go out to the family of the two brothers and all involved in the accident.
