Greenfield Students Host Blood Drive

On October 28th, Greenfield hosted a Red Cross blood drive.

Many students both volunteered and gave blood. Urvi Patel and Carter McLamb both volunteered at the blood drive, and Urvi helped organize it.

“I worked with Mrs. Stevens to coordinate the blood drive and all the logistics,” said Urvi. She also worked on the timing, location, advertising, and setting up meetings between the faculty and Red Cross to coordinate logistics.

The blood drive operated in the cafeteria. Donors would go in and give blood. The process is fairly quick; donors lay or sit on a table and about a pint of blood is drawn from them in a standard donation. After they are finished giving blood, Carter McLamb would give them food and drink to make sure they were feeling well.

This blood drive was a big success, as they exceeded their goal for donations. Donating blood is a great thing to do and leaves you with a very rewarding feeling. I highly recommend donating in the future if you are able to. It is not every day that you are able to help save a life.
