This year, the annual fundraiser for Greenfield School is going to be based around the Kentucky Derby. The goal of the fundraiser is to have a silent auction and a live auction that will bring in lots of money to put towards improvements for the school. I was able to have a private interview with Mrs. Good, the Director of Development at school, about the upcoming fundraiser.
Every year, there is an annual fundraiser for the school so having a fundraiser was something that had to happen. The only thing that will be new about the fundraiser this year is the theme which, as I mentioned earlier, is based around the Kentucky Derby.
Due to the global pandemic, the organizers of this large event were forced to move the date of the fundraiser to a later time in the year. Mrs. Good said, “We did have to back the date up because of Covid. We were trying to get the numbers down before we threw the party.” Typically, this event takes place in March every year, but this year it will be taking place on Saturday, May 7th, at the Wilson Arts Center.
Due to the change in the date, they decided that it was necessary to change the theme of the fundraiser as well. When the event organizers moved the event, it just so happened that the day that they moved it to was in the weekend of the Kentucky Derby so, it was just logical to make the theme based around the Kentucky Derby.
