Greenfield looks forward to graduation and looks back on Baccalaureate

by Zach Lozevski

Graduation will be held next Friday, 10 am May 27th at Peace Church. Traditionally, at graduation, a speaker is to give a speech inspiring and bestowing a sense of honor and respect to the students. The senior class is to elect someone to speak on their behalf. This 2022 year the senior class decided to vote for Mr. Griffin to speak at it. Mr. Griffin has an excellent track record of experience in public speaking and will most likely do a great job honoring the graduating class.

The Baccalaureate ceremony differs from the more prominent ceremony of graduation. I obtained this information by interviewing Assistant Head of School Mr. Thompson. At Greenfield, typically the awards honor distinguishable high school students that excel in character and academics. Most of these awards are gifted the day before graduation, except the Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and Sterling Knight Awards. Valedictorians are students with the current highest GPA average in their class and Salutatorians are students with the 2nd highest current GPA in their class. They are usually expected to give a speech on the day of graduation. The last award is the Sterling Knight award, which is honored to students who display great character and representation of Greenfield over the years in citizenship.
