Greenfield adopts revolutionary bell system

by Emily Ross

This year, Greenfield has a new bell system. In previous years we have used the classic bell built into the walls. This year, faculty decided to change that, and start using the phones as bells. Last year we started using the phone for the announcements instead of the intercom, now we have the announcements and bells all on the phone.

The bells have switched to over the phone because of how loud they used to be. For spirt week, each day had a different bell depending on what the theme was. Last week we also voted on the new bell for the rest of the year.

I asked freshman Ella Walston for her opinion on the new bells. Ella said “I liked the bells at first, but it’s gotten kind of annoying. During spirit week I liked some of them but some of them got on my nerves. It just depends on what bell. But I like that we can change them and its not so loud in the hallway anymore when the bells are going off, it used to be very loud.”
