On May 12, 2022, the Greenfield School Girls’ Varsity Soccer team played in the quarterfinal game in the NCISAA 1A State Tournament against Pungo Christian Academy. The game started off a little bit rough, until Darcy Dean scored a goal, giving us the 1-0 lead. Then, just minutes later, an unlucky goal was scored on Greenfield off of a corner kick.

This was not the end of the game, though. Within a few minutes, Darcy Dean scored another goal, once again giving Greenfield the lead. Darcy scored again, followed by Yazi Bullock scoring two, and then Gabby Beddingfield scoring one.

Going into the second half, Greenfield was up 6-1. Yazi scored another goal, then Juliette Suarez-Robles scored a goal. Soon, Avery Williams scored her first goal of the game. With only four minutes left in the game, Yazi scored Greenfield’s tenth goal of the night, giving us the mercy rule.

Yazi, Avery, Anna Ramsey Watson, and Juliette had assists in the game against Pungo. Greenfield will be moving on to the semifinals game against Southside Christian School on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in Clayton, North Carolina.

This game against Pungo was also our senior night. The five seniors on the team, Monica Mann, Lily Hesse, Urvi Patel, Libby Eagles, and Juliette Suarez-Robles were all recognized after the game. Congrats to our five seniors, and the whole Varsity Girls’ Soccer Team!
