Girl's Volleyball Off to Record Start

by Darcy Dean

For the first time in over 17 years, the Greenfield School Girl's Varsity Volleyball team is 4-0. After their recent conference win over Wayne Christian, fans, players, and coaches are all excited to see what the remainder of the season will hold.

The captains of the team are Libero, Mackenzie Landers, and Setter, Ysabella Saldi. In the game against Wayne Christian, Saldi had 18 assists, Gracelyn Narron had 12 points from her serves, Landers had 22 digs, and Jeallen Holland had 7 kills.

“I think that we did a really good job of covering the deep corners and at defense. We made sure that we covered the tips and we hit the middle of the court and the corners," said Landers.

In an interview after the game with Wayne Christian, Coach Castillo said, “I think that it is going to be a pretty successful season. Can we win a championship? I don’t know - maybe we can. You never know, but I know we will go the farthest we have ever gone before.”

The Knight’s next game is away against Grace Christian.
