Girl's tennis comes to an end

by George Scholl

The Greenfield Varsity girl’s tennis season just ended, which was their first season playing as a Division 2A team.

Their overall record this year was 5-12, and their conference record was 2-6. They also made it to the championship this year, where they ended up losing to Faith Christian.

When I interviewed Mattie Metts, who was a captain on the tennis team, she said that she was happy with how the team did this year. When I asked if there was anything that she wished they had done differently this season, she said, “There isn’t anything I wished our team had done differently [. . .] We tried our best, but it was definitely a hard year due to the fence making the courts unplayable for a little while.”

She also said that their top three players this year were Luisa Lee, Mae Pridgen, and Maya Genge. All three of these players are seniors, so they won’t be able to play next year.
