Last year, Greenfield School took a great loss. One amazingly talented young woman named Isabelle Parker left the school to pursue her dreams at The School of the Arts in Winston Salem.
Although we were incredibly sad to see her leave, she is reaching astounding new heights at her new school.
Isabelle came to Greenfield in Preschool as a three year old and she left after her ninth grade year. She says that what she misses most about Greenfield is the people that truly became like family to her over the years. She says that another thing that she misses are the sports that she played while she was at Greenfield which were volleyball, basketball, and soccer. Her favorite subject when she was at Greenfield was music, but it was closely followed by Spanish and Science.
I recently went to one of her many violin performances and I thought she was simply amazing. In addition to the violin, Isabelle plays the guitar, mandolin, ukulele, viola, mountain dulcimer, keyboard, and tenor banjo.
At the School of the Arts, her schedule varies from week to week and even day to day, but her academic classes are the most recurring events on her calendar. She attends three classes in the morning and two in the afternoon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. She says she typically has a short session on Monday evenings for orchestra rehearsal and a two hour masterclass on Tuesday evenings. Wednesdays are devoted to arts. Thursdays she doesn’t typically have any arts classes, and on Fridays she has orchestra for two hours.
Isabelle’s favorite color is light periwinkle blue and her favorite animals are turtles although there are a lot of contenders for the position of favorite. She says that if she could go anywhere in the world on vacation, it would be to either Iceland, Hawaii, Germany, or Italy. She says that if she could choose anywhere in the world to live it would be somewhere where she could have easy access to nature but also be able to have lots of communication with people.
