Class of 2023 Spotlight: Veer Patel

by Danny Pham

Veer Patel is a senior this year, and he has been studying in Greenfield School since 6th grade. He likes doing card tricks and doing Cardistry - the performance art of card flourishing. He also loves playing tennis with his friends as well as working on his side jobs – Squeaky Clean Window, where he washes windows around the community and 10% of their proceeds are donated to charities around Wilson - which always keeps him occupied. The side hustles he has are running a motivational Instagram page named @motivationalmantras, finding clients for his window washing business, and focusing on his social media marketing agency.

Veer is an energetic student; he has played basketball, soccer, and tennis for GS. He played soccer this year and tennis when the season starts. In addition, Veer is excellent at Mathematics. Like many seniors, his favorite teacher Mrs. Pace. He thinks she is a gifted teacher with the ability to explain math much better than any other teacher he has ever had. The content is difficult in that class, but she explains it so well that it is easy to comprehend. Veer says: “I have learned that Greenfield is one of the best schools in Wilson because of its 1 on 1 connection linking the student to the teacher. You do not get that experience in many public schools.” The thing he enjoys most is the tennis program and the ability for juniors and seniors to eat out on Fridays. Moreover, Veer thinks that high school students should get a side job. Although they can gain experience through a normal job around school hours, he believes that if they start their own business, they will find much more success and flexibility compared to any other normal job you were to have.

For college, Veers wants to attend NC State with a major in finance/business administration. As a highly experienced student with great preparation, he shares that “I attended Summer Ventures at UNCC last summer and it was the best program I have ever been to. We had a major project to finish at the end of the month and mine was on Autonomous Driving. I completed the longest paper of my life and presented my findings to professors and students at the university. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the 10th grade looking for a fun hands-on summer camp.” We wish Veer all the best!
