Class of 2023 Spotlight: Carter Peele

by Danny Pham

Carter Peele is a senior this year and he has been studying at Greenfield School for 12 years. In his free time, Carter usually plays video games, reads books, and writes. He also likes spending time with his dogs and cats. Carter is a great student and English is his favorite subject because he loves discussing novels he has read. Specially, he is excellent at identifying and explaining many abstract ideas from the quotes of novels or poems to his classmates.

Carter is not only good at studying but also excellent at sports. I would say that he is a talented athlete. He has been participating in 2 sports and now he is playing for the Varsity Tennis team in Greenfield school as an irreplaceable player.

About his time at GS, Carter says: “During studying in Greenfield, I love how wide and open the campus is. Moreover, I love the experience that we can communicate 1:1 with the teachers which other public schools do not have.” Carter claims that learning is important, and so are friends. “Work smarter not harder,” - “instead of reading, writing for hours a day, you can listen to podcast, watch TV, and the most important is that you should use the Pomodoro technique (which is studying for 25 minutes then rest for 5 minutes and repeat).” Carter’s advice for high school students is: “Join as many clubs as you can because they are usually fun, and they look good on your resume for college.”

This year, Carter Peele is aiming to attend NC State with a computer engineering major because he has always loved video games and game design. He wants to be a game developer one day. Finally, he shares to the readers: “I would say grades are important, but don’t worry so much about making good grades that you neglect the other parts of your life.”
