Class of 2022 Spotlight: Jake Flaherty

by Tyler Thompson

Jake Flaherty is 17 years old and is currently a senior here at Greenfield. When asked about his senior year, Jake replied, “It's great to see all my hard work pay off over the last three years, and I'm really ready [for it] to be time just be out of this place, but it is a great year.”

Jake plays multiple sports including soccer, swimming, and tennis. He is currently a captain of the soccer team. Currently, he and the team are working for another state championship. “I'd love to add a third state championship ring to my collection this last year” Jake expressed. He is still recovering from a recent collarbone injury. In his first game after being cleared to play, he scored a goal only 35 seconds into the game. The team builds off of his positive energy and high intensity.

Jake always works hard during soccer and always makes sure to help out his Greenfield community. “My proudest moment is my involvement in SGA and the money I've helped raise,” Jake said. He genuinely takes pride in trying to be a good person and the best version of himself possible. Because of this, he has made a clear impact in the Greenfield community.

When asked what he would miss most about Greenfield, Jake reflected, “The thing I'm going to miss the most is how [close] everybody is at Greenfield. It really feels like I know every single person that I run into [during] the day.” Jake is excited to continue to expand his horizons at college next year, but he wants to finish with a great year at Greenfield first.
