Earlier this year in February a cargo ship housing hundreds of cars and 22 sailors caught fire, and it’s name was the Felicity Ace.
Some news sources estimate the losses upward of two hundred million dollars with some of the main losses including Lamborghinis, Porches, and Volkswagens.
Many of these companies have already released statements preaching that the importance of the crew's lives is much more valuable than any car.
Despite all that, there still is fair reasoning for someone to be worried, and if you believe one of your cars was on this ship you very well may have been contacted. Manufacturers have already begun working on replacements for those that lost their cars, however it’s likely it can be another couple months till consumers get these cars.
One important detail noted by professionals is that the likely reason the ship caught fire so quickly is due to the numerous electric cars on board. The cars contain a highly flammable battery made of lithium and when the ship caught fire they fueled it worse than any gasoline could. If this theory continues to hold true, we here at The Knights Post speculate that shipping electric cars will be extremely different in the future, with many more precautions taken. While some may think that this is a one time thing it’s extremely if not probable that this will happen again. This time, we got extremely lucky. narrowly avoiding oil spills in the Atlantic and any serious injury to crew; however, it’s extremely likely this will happen again and it’s entirely likely we won't get this lucky again.
The situation is still rapidly unfolding. However, this covers the vast majority of the situation up to this point, it’s likely once they start shipping out replacements more will be revealed and depending on the severity of the situation but that’s all for now.
