Boys basketball begins season

by Drew Lucas

The start of 2022 - 2023 boy's basketball season has started off great. Coach Salter thought the first few practices had gone great; everyone work hard and everyone listened. We are currently ranked #22 out of 25 teams. In the teams' opinion, we should be ranked higher, but a rank does not dictate how good a team is.

Things kicked off with our annual alumni game. The current squad lead the whole game by double-digit points but ended coming up short losing by 8 at the end of the 4th. The old guys were determined not to lose 2 years in a row.

Tuesday, Nov, 4th at 7 pm we played in a scrimmage against Millbrook, which is a 4A school, and they were ranked #18. In the locker room, there was a lot of energy, and the energy transferred to the court. From the start of the game to the end the boys played with energy and effort and ended up getting the win. The final score was 80 - 56.

Thursday was the first official game of the season the boys played against Raleigh Christian Academy. It was the first game so everyone was hyped and ready to go. When the ball tipped off you could see the fire in both teams' eyes and it was a fight from start to finish. The game came down to the last play and they made a small mistake at the end which cost them the game. But they did not put their heads down knowing they had another game tomorrow and they were determined to come out with a win.

Friday, Nov, 11 at 6 pm they played Central Carolina Prep and everyone was hungry for a win today after losing the close game. By the way, they played you could tell everyone wanted to win it was way different from yesterday. Greenfield ended up winning 85-59.
