Varsity boy's soccer traveled to Westchester School early Saturday morning 29 October to meet Gaston Day. The boys managed to pull through the first half with an impressive start. Landyn Coolbaugh scored a goal 30 seconds into the game to give his team the lead. Unfortunately, the Greenfield team fell to a 1-3 loss.
“They played well. Gaston Day was a good team, and they had us under pressure for most of the game,” said Coach Wilkinson.
The Greenfield Varsity Boys ended their regular season as 6th in the state and 1st in the conference. They fought their way through the playoffs to punch their way to the first 2A championship for Greenfield.
I interviewed Jo-Williem Tewes before the game to understand the process that led up to the moment. Jo stated, “it feels good to be here, it has been a true pleasure to play with such a nice team. We have practiced good, slept well, stretched, and trusted the process.”
The varsity boys ended the season with an 18-4-1 (18 wins, 4 loses, 1 tie).
Seniors Nick Wester, Harrison Batchelor, Nathan Lozevski, Porter Wells, Bryson Wall, Lee Powell, Veer Patel, and Hanson Ngo all played their last year with the boys' soccer team. Junior Jo-Willem Tewes also played his last game as he will be going back to Germany in the spring.
