On Wednesday, 10 November, our ninth and tenth graders will visit the UNCW campus. UNCW was established as part of the North Carolina university system in 1969 as a public research university. It is classified among Doctoral or High Research activity universities. Students at all levels are actively involved with research funded by grants which contribute to the university's mission of adding to the region's growth through innovation and job creation.
UNCW offers a wide range of programs and doctoral degrees. One program that many find interesting is marine biology which makes use of its naturally provided laboratory, the Atlantic Ocean. The UNCW Seahawks take pride in their coastal school which offers a powerful academic experience that provokes creative inquiry and critical thinking in a diverse community. UNCW was created in 1947 as Wilmington College and provided educational opportunities to service members coming home after World War II. The university remains military friendly working closely with personnel and their families to offer programs for veterans. UNCW is recognized for providing a high quality affordable education and is ranked 95th among best colleges in 2021 nationwide. Greenfield students anticipate an enjoyable experience visiting the Seahawks campus.
